Mark Stultz

With 30 years of experience in energy industry external affairs and journalism, Mark Stultz leads policy coordination for BP’s North American Gas & Power business and directs its regulatory advocacy and communications initiatives. Most recently, Stultz was responsible for communications, legislative affairs and national public relations activities at the Natural Gas Supply Association (NGSA), highlighting the benefits of competitive natural gas markets.

Previously, he directed public affairs and marketing activities at the Electric Power Supply Association (EPSA), where he managed the competitive power industry’s national communications and public relations response to the Enron collapse and California power crisis.

Prior to his recruitment by EPSA, Mr. Stultz was responsible for electronic communications and related membership programs at the American Gas Association (AGA). From 1991-1996, he served as AGA’s manager of public relations programs and was responsible for the development and implementation of a full range of public and media relations strategies.

Mr. Stultz began his career as a journalist, which included seven years as a television reporter and anchorman, covering such developments as the restart of TMI and operating controversies at the Limerick, Peach Bottom, and Calvert Cliffs nuclear generating stations. He also spent several years as a reporter/editor with UPl. He is chairman of the EPSA Public Affairs Committee, and serves on the Board of Directors of EPSA, COMPETE and the North American Energy Standards Board (NAESB). He resides in Houston.

Paul Cusenza

Paul Cusenza is CEO of Nodal Exchange, LLC, a ground-breaking new service with LCH.Clearnet which provides trading and central counterparty clearing of cash-settled nodal power contracts in North America as well as a recently introduced financially settled natural gas contract for Henry Hub. He joined Nodal Exchange in January of 2008 and led the company to its launch in April 2009. Nodal Exchange was named “Innovation of the Year” at the 2010 Energy Risk Awards.

Mr. Cusenza has over twenty-five years of experience in building and managing businesses. He was a co-Founder and co-President of 23andMe, a personal genetics company which Time Magazine identified as “The Best Invention of the Year”, and the Senior Vice President of Marketing and Alliance Management at Perlegen Sciences. He was part of the Senior Management Team of Capital One Financial during a period of great growth in the 1990s, as the Managing Director of Value-Added Alliances and Vice President Marketing & Analysis.

Prior to Capital One Financial, Mr. Cusenza was a Vice President and Partner at Mercer Management Consulting (now Oliver Wyman) for nearly a decade focusing on financial services. Gregory Mocek

Gregory Mocek is a Partner in the Washington DC office of Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP. As the head of the firm's Energy and Commodities Enforcement Defense team, he advises clients in all aspects of the production of commodities and the trading of commodities and derivative products. He provides legal and strategic guidance in a broad range of areas, including regulatory, government investigations, internal investigations, litigation, compliance and operational risk. Among his clients are domestic and international banks, exchanges, investment banks, commercial energy companies, brokerage firms, and hedge funds.

Mr.Mocek is a former Director of Enforcement for the United States Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). He joined the CFTC in 1998, rising through the organization to provide leadership as one of the longest serving enforcement directors in Commission history. He was responsible for managing the Commission's enforcement investigations, policies and related litigation in the U.S. and abroad, and for leading enforcement investigations and prosecutions concerning allegations of fraud, manipulation and other violations of the Commodity Exchange Act. He also managed a wide variety of domestic and international cases involving complex OTC, physical and on-exchange transactions.

As the Director of Enforcement, Mr. Mocek worked closely with the President's Corporate Fraud Task Force, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and multiple other government regulatory bodies. He also played a key role in high-profile CFTC actions against Enron, Amaranth, and in hundreds of other complex investigations and cases that involved agriculture, metals, energy and currency markets. Prior to his appointment as the Director of Enforcement, he held several titles at the CFTC, including Special Counsel to Chairman James Newsome and Senior Trial Attorney. Before joining the CFTC, he was in private practice and focused on securities, commodities and commercial litigation.

Mr. Mocek frequently speaks on compliance and risk, legislation, regulatory and enforcement issues. He is a member of the Futures Industry Association, the Commodities & Derivatives Section of the American Bar Association, and the Commodity Markets Council. He is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and in Louisiana. Prior to attending law school, he worked as a broker for Thomson McKinnon Securities.

Aaron Trent

Thomas J. Saal is a Senior Vice President for Hencorp Becstone Futures, LC where he provides risk management and trade execution in energy futures and options. Previously, Mr. Saal held senior-level positions with Commercial Brokerage and Pioneer Futures where he provided full-service brokerage services for his clients in the natural gas and oil markets.

In 1991, Mr. Saal founded Merrill Lynch's first natural gas futures trading desk and served as a senior financial consultant. Prior to the position with Merrill, Mr. Saal cut his teeth on the physical side of the industry as a fuels analyst, fuel planner and rate analyst for Florida Power & Light Company from 1986 to 1991.

He started his career in 1983 as a financial analyst with Natomas North America, Inc./Diamond Shamrock, and was an energy economist for the Comptroller of Public Accounts-Texas, from 1984 to 1986. He holds a Masters degree in Economics from the University of Houston.

Alexander E. Strawn, Jr.

Alex Strawn has more than twenty years of consumer products manufacturing experience, having held corporate purchasing positions with Avon Products, Tambrands and currently Procter & Gamble. He joined the P&G Energy Purchases organization in 2001, in Cincinnati, and has lived and worked, abroad, for the company in Geneva, Switzerland.

Mr. Strawn currently holds the position of Purchasing Group Manager, and is responsible for the physical contracting and supply of natural gas to more than forty Procter & Gamble sites in North America. The role encompasses not only the strategic sourcing of gas, but the management of pipeline transport and related legislative / regulatory lobbying activities, as well. He has led breakthrough efforts to leverage P&G requirements with regulated utilities throughout the Untied States. Mr. Strawn has testified before numerous FERC technical conferences and has been a frequent guest speaker at many national industry gatherings.

Mr. Strawn is currently Chairman of the Process Gas Consumers (PGC) Group. PGC is a national trade association of industrial gas consumers who require natural gas in many of their key operations. PGC works to promote coordinated, rational and consistent federal and state policies relating to natural gas and its transportation.

Mr. Strawn also serves with other gas industry executives as a member of the Natural Gas Council. IN addition, he was on the Board of Directors of the Gas Technology Institute. He is a native to Tyler, Texas, and attended the University of Virginia and James Madison University in Virginia.

Dena E. Wiggins

Dena E. Wiggins is a partner in the Business and Finance Department and a member of the Energy and Project Finance Group, Corporate and Government Investigations and White Collar Defense Group, and Climate Change and Sustainability Initiative. Ms. Wiggins has more than 20 years of experience representing energy clients in regulatory, legislative, transactional, and litigation matters.

Ms. Wiggins focuses her practice on representing clients such as industrial consumers and natural gas producers in federal regulatory matters involving natural gas transportation and storage, crude oil, petroleum products, and hydropower. Ms. Wiggins has represented clients in appellate matters before several Courts of Appeal.

Ms. Wiggins has participated in numerous natural gas and oil pipeline rate proceedings and in rulemakings affecting the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s (FERC) regulation of those commodities. Her experience involves virtually every significant rulemaking effort over the past 20 years, including the restructuring of the natural gas industry through Order Nos. 436, 636, and 637 and the first fully litigated pipeline case after the enactment of the Energy Policy Act of 1992. She provides regulatory and transactional advice regarding natural gas storage and contracts, including precedent agreements and rate and tariff advice. She also advises clients on FERC enforcement and compliance.

As general counsel for a trade association of large industrial consumers of natural gas, Ms Wiggins represents the association on various natural gas policy and regulatory matters. Additionally, she is the natural gas counsel for the Independent Petroleum Association of America, the American Iron and Steel Institute, and the American Forest & Paper Association.

Her legislative and policy experience provides distinctive insights to clients in the energy industry. She has been involved in many high-profile legislative matters, including the passage of the Energy Policy Acts of 1992 and 2005, the defeat of the BTU tax, the decontrol of wellhead prices of natural gas, and the repeal of the Fuel Use Act, as well as efforts to increase energy exploration and production. Currently, she is engaged in legislative efforts to amend Section 5 of the Natural Gas Act.

Ms. Wiggins is admitted to practice law in the District of Columbia (1988) and is named to The Best Lawyers in America for energy and natural resource law (2006 to 2010).

Greg Means

Steve Elsea has over 30 years experience in the energy industry. Mr. Elsea has conducted energy audits for every customer class in behind-the-meter applications including residential homes, small & large retail businesses, schools, hospitals, correctional institutions, manufacturing and industrial facilities. John Ragland

John Ragland is Director of Global Energy for Johnson Controls, Inc., a global diversified company in the building and automotive industries.

In this role, Mr. Ragland is responsible for leading the JCI Corporate Energy Team to create a competitive advantage for JCI by executing unique and effective strategies that minimize the energy cost and maximize the energy efficiency.

Recently, the team has implemented programs that measure JCI’s global energy and greenhouse gases through a Sustainability Scorecard. Daniel P. Lopez

Dan Lopez joined Frito-Lay in 1988 and has managed various elements of energy procurement for manufacturing and fleet functions for the world’s largest snack food company. In 2003, Mr. Lopez joined a newly formed PepsiCo Energy & Utilities Group and manages natural gas and alternate fuels procurement for all PepsiCo’s manufacturing facilities in North America.

Before joining Frito-Lay, Mr. Lopez was a Principle Consultant with Purvin & Gertz from 1980 to 1988. As an independent consultant he served a variety of clients, including Independent Oil & Gas Producers, Refiners, Gas Processors, Refined Products Marketers, Financial Institutions and Regulators.

Mr. Lopez is a native of Atlanta, Georgia, but has been a Dallas resident since 1980. He received a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from University of South Florida in 1976.

John Hanger

John Hanger was Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection during the administration of Gov. Ed Rendell from September 2008 to January 2011. Prior to that he was a Commissioner of the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission from April 1993 to June 1998.

Mr. Hanger was Founding President of Citizens for Pennsylvania's Future, now known as Penn Future. As Public Advocate he represented consumers of the Philadelphia Gas Works and the Philadelphia Water Department. Mr. Hanger is an expert on energy, environment, the green economy, competitive electric markets, and utility regulation, with unique experience in and out of government.

Presentations he has made include: "The Truth and Nothing but the Truth about Gas Drilling and America's Energy Choices."

In his various positions Mr. Hanger has testified before Congress and state legislatures and been interviewed countless times, appearing on CBS evening News, NBC Evening News, CNN, BBC, CBC, and many more outlets.

Mr. Hanger graduated in 1979 from Duke University and also received a law degree in 1984 from the University of Pennsylvania School of Law.

Richard J. “Dick” Snyder

Richard J. “Dick” Snyder is Vice President of Business Development. He is responsible for fundamental analysis, financial trading, economic analysis and facilities planning at CenterPoint Energy Services. He also oversees all activities associated with CEIP, Inc. which includes the company’s intrastate pipelines and storage assets.

Mr. Snyder began his career with Tenneco where he was in charge of strategic planning, domestic and international business development, and the start up of various functions and businesses for the natural gas pipeline division. Following his stint with Tenneco, he was a principal with an energy consulting firm, Pendulum Energy and later held the position of VP Business Development for TransCanada International Latin America.

As President of CenterPoint Energy Power Systems, Mr. Snyder led CenterPoint's fuel cell development efforts. Immediately before coming to CES he served as Director Business Development for CenterPoint Energy Gas Transmission.

Mr. Snyder has served as chair and participant in numerous natural gas industry committees, associations, and task forces from AGA, to INGAA to the board of directors for The Potential Gas Committee, etc.

Mr. Snyder is a native of Houston, Texas and attended the University of Houston for undergraduate studies and Sam Houston State University for an MBA. He served in the US Army Reserve Corps of Engineers for 6 years.

David Ciarlone

David Ciarlone is directly responsible for managing Alcoa’s natural gas and non-smelting electricity in North America. He also consults with his colleagues who manage the balance of Alcoa's $3 billion global energy spend.

Mr. Ciarlone has nearly 30 years of experience generating, selling, buying and managing energy. Through the course of his career he has worked for an electric utility, an energy marketer, an energy management consulting firm and an industrial end-user. He has accumulated experience on energy regulatory dockets and legislative initiatives at the federal level and in several states. Last year, David was involved in developing and passing the new law regulating electricity in Ohio (SB-221). More recently Dave’s work has included efforts to reform Section 5 of the federal Natural Gas Act; implementing SB-221 in Ohio; and testimony before the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission and the Pennsylvania General Assembly highlighting the risks industrial end-users face with the impending expiration of electric rate caps in that state.

Mr. Ciarlone graduated the University of Notre Dame with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Option and a M.S. in Nuclear Engineering, D.O.E. Radioactive Waste Management Fellowship from the Pennsylvania State University.

Jeff Spath

Jeff Spath is vice president of Industry Affairs for Schlumberger Limited, a position he assumed in March 2010. In this position, he coordinates global account management, Schlumberger’s University relations and executive-level client relationships including joint R&D projects. Prior to this position, he served as president of the Reservoir Management Group, where he directed operations of the E&P industry’s largest data processing, geotechnical consulting and software organization for clients worldwide.

Dr. Spath joined Schlumberger as a field engineer in 1984 and has held positions in reservoir engineering, research and management. He holds B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University and a Ph.D. in Reservoir Engineering from the Mining University of Leoben, Austria.

Active in the SPE, he has served as Technical Director for Management & Information on the SPE Board of Directors, as SPE Distinguished Lecturer on Production Enhancement and has authored many SPE publications. Dr. Spath has been awarded fourteen U.S. and European patents in the subjects of production and reservoir engineering.

Chris Tucker

Chris Tucker is a senior vice president at Financial Dynamics (FD) in Washington, D.C. and team lead for the national shale gas education initiative known as Energy In Depth. In this capacity, Mr. Tucker serves as chief spokesman for a membership that includes more than 30 individual shale gas operators and trade associations. He is also an advisor to the Pennsylvania-based Marcellus Shale Coalition, which represents more than 100 companies active in the region.

Prior to joining FD, Mr. Tucker spent almost a decade on Capitol Hill, most recently as a senior advisor and speechwriter to the House Minority Whip. He has participated in more than two dozen shale conferences and issue forums across North America over the past 18 months, appearing on CNN and several regional television and radio programs in that span.

A native of northeastern Pennsylvania, Chris holds a degree from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. He resides with his wife Betsy and dog Liam in Washington, D.C.

Terry Engelder

Terry Engelder is a leading authority on the geology of the Marcellus gas shale play. He holds degrees from Penn State B.S. (’68), Yale M.S. (’72) and Texas A&M, Ph.D. (‘73). Prior to his current position as a Professor of Geosciences at Penn State he served on the staffs of the US Geological Survey, Texaco, and Columbia University. Short-term academic appointments include those of Visiting Professor at Graz University in Austria and Visiting Professor at the University of Perugia in Italy. Other academic distinctions include a Fulbright Senior Fellowship in Australia, Penn State’s Wilson Distinguished Teaching Award, and membership in a US earth science delegation to visit the Soviet Union immediately following Nixon-Brezhnev dêtente, and the singular honor of helping Walter Alvarez collect the samples that led to the famous theory for dinosaur extinction by large meteorite impact. He has written 150 research papers, many focused on Appalachia, and a book, the research monograph "Stress Regimes in the Lithosphere". In the international arena, he has worked on exploration and production problems with companies including Saudi Aramco, Royal Dutch Shell, Total, Agip, and Petrobras

James Simpson

Mr. Simpson has more than ten years of experience analyzing and managing energy information and commodity risk in both gas and power.

Prior to joining BENTEK, Mr. Simpson modeled large structured transactions in both gas and power for Enron North America. Subsequently he led Natural Gas Marketing and Trading at MarkWest Hydrocarbon and Eprime, Inc.

Mr. Simpson holds a BBA in finance from Texas A&M University.

Berne L. Mosley

Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC)

As Deputy Directory of the Office of Energy Projects at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Berne Mosley has oversight over the processing of applications for the construction and operation of natural gas pipeline and storage facilities for interstate and foreign commerce, including liquefied natural gas (LNG), and licenses for non-federal hydroelectric projects, as well as managing the license compliance and dam safety programs. In addition, this Office administers the supplemental siting authority for interstate electric transmission facilities granted by the Energy Policy Act of 2005.

Previously, Mr. Mosley was the Director of the Division of Pipeline Certificates. This division has the responsibility for managing applications for major infrastructure construction projects involving the transportation and storage of natural gas, along with the siting and authorization of import and export facilities, and for advising the Commission on engineering issues relating to:

Mr. Mosley is a graduate of Auburn University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering. Originally from Georgia, Mr. Mosley now resides in Arlington, VA with his wife and two daughters.

Andrew Hess
Director, Gas Supply
Integrys Energy Services

Andrew Hess is the leader of the Gas Supply group at Integrys Energy Services, and actively trades the Midwest natural gas markets. Mr. Hess and his team of regional traders are responsible for all aspects of supplying over 100 Bcf of natural gas annually to the retail customers of Integrys in over 10 states. These customers vary in size and include over 90,000 “choice” customers up to large industrial and power plant facilities with a myriad of medium to large commercial, institutional, and industrial facilities in between.

Mr. Hess has worked in the energy industry since 1987. After spending the first eight years of his career with Wisconsin Public Service Corp. in various engineering positions he moved to the predecessor of Integrys Energy Services in 1995. Since that time Mr. Hess has been involved in all aspects of the natural gas business, including the development and implementation of strategies for natural gas supplies, pipeline transportation, storage services, and utility services in the U.S. and Canada.

Mr. Hess has executed both physical and financial transactions for natural gas, currency hedging between U.S. and Canadian dollars, negotiated many transportation and storage services, scheduled natural gas on various pipelines, and managed local distribution company pools. He has provided testimony in several utility rate cases at a state level and he has participated in FERC proceedings regarding natural gas pipeline issues.

Mr. Hess graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Wisconsin at Platteville and a Master of Science degree in Engineering Management from the Milwaukee School of Engineering. He also maintains his certification as a Professional Engineer (PE) in Wisconsin.

Patrick McKinnon
Associate Director, Energy Products
CME Group

Patrick McKinnon has served as Associate Director, Energy Products at CME Group since August 2010. He is responsible for natural gas product development and recently helped launch the delivered natural gas futures contract, which enables buyers to take delivery of natural gas as soon as the next day.

Prior to joining CME Group, he served as Executive Director of ConfirmHub LLC. Mr. McKinnon has more than 25 years of energy industry experience as a broker, asset manager, systems integrator and marketer. He has worked at such firms as Amerex, Cinergy, Oxy and GFI.

Mr. McKinnon earned a bachelor’s degree from Sam Houston State University.

Michael Hinton

Allegro Development

Michael Hinton is Chief Customer Officer of Allegro. He is Allegro's customer advocate throughout all aspects of the customer lifecycle. Mr. Hinton manages all interactions between Allegro and its customers ensuring each maximizes the value of their investment.

Since joining Allegro in 1997, Mr. Hinton has held a number of significant cross-functional roles in sales, services and management. Most recently, as Chief Marketing Officer, he was responsible for increasing brand awareness across the industry while increasing market share. Before that, he was Vice President of Product Marketing, where he led a global team in support of Allegro's field operations.

Prior to joining Allegro, Mr. Hinton held general management positions with Independent Gas Companies (IGC), and Skelgas, Inc.

Paul Corby
Senior Vice President
Planalytics, Inc.

Paul Corby manages the company's Energy Risk Management Division, which provides risk management, decision support and forecasting tools along with consulting services to companies that consume produce or distribute natural gas, power and other energy commodities.

In this role, Mr. Corby has overall responsibilities for product development, client services, sales and marketing. He was the chief architect of Planalytics’ energy-related tools – GasBuyer, EnergyBuyer, and ImpactPower – and is currently working on the development of additional solutions for commodity and equity markets.

Mr. Corby holds two hedging/trading-related patents, one being for the GasBuyer product and the other on an options program for trading weather derivatives. Others are pending.

Mr. Corby is regularly invited to speak at Public Utility Commissions all across the country as well as at the meetings of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners. He can often be seen as a guest speaker on energy commodity pricing matters on CNBC, Fox Business News and Bloomberg TV.

Prior to joining Planalytics, Mr. Corby spent twenty years trading and brokering in the international financial derivatives markets.

Charles A. Schrock
Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer
Integrys Energy Group, Inc.

Charles Schrock has been President and CEO of Integrys Energy Group, Inc. since 2009 and now also is Chairman of that company which was formed by the 2007 merger of Peoples Energy and WPS Resources Corp.

The Integrys Group includes the unregulated Integrys Energy Services and the regulated gas utilities, Peoples Gas and North Shore Gas in Illinois as well as Minnesota Energy Resources and Michigan Gas Utilities. Its regulated electric utilities are Upper Peninsula Power Co. in Michigan and Wisconsin Public Service.

Mr. Schrock had been president and CEO of Wisconsin Public Service and WPS Resources Corp. since 2007. Prior to that he was president of generation for the utility and president of WPS Power Development, starting with the company in 1979 and moving up through the ranks from nuclear engineering and plant operations.

Mr. Schrock started his career with the University of Michigan as a reactor operator in 1976.

He currently serves on the boards directors of Integrys Energy Group, Inc.) Aegis, Limited , and American Transmission Company.

He received bachelor and masters degrees in nuclear engineering from the University of Michigan.

Ben MacFarlane

Ben MacFarlane is the Manager of NGL Analytics at Bentek. Mr. MacFarlane combines several years’ experience with Bentek’s Energy Analytics team with five years’ experience in Natural Gas Plant and Fractionator operations in the DJ Basin with DCP Midstream.

He is responsible for the development, content and production of all Bentek NGL/LPG reports and services.

Mr. MacFarlane holds a BS in Business and Religion from Liberty University and an MS in Energy and Mineral Economics from Colorado School of Mines.

Cynthia Kase, CMT, MFTA holds a BS and ME in chemical engineering and worked in that capacity for 10 years starting in 1973. After joining Standard Oil Company of California (later Chevron) in that capacity in 1980, she transferred into the international trading arm the same year crude futures started trading, 1983. Shortly thereafter, she moved to the New York office to manage clean product trading for most of the western hemisphere. During that time, she became a self-taught technical and statistical market analyst, and has gone on not only to win the Market Technician’s Association’s Best of the Best Award, but also to become one of the energy market’s most prolific writer and educator on technical hedging and trading issues.

As the 1980’s came to a close, Ms. Kase joined Chemical Bank as their first VP of Commodity Risk Management. In 1991, she accepted a one-year invitation by the Saudi’s consulting arm as Director of Energy Risk Management and of Technical Analysis.

Ms. Kase launched Kase and Company, Inc. in 1992. Under her leadership, the firm has come to be recognized as the energy market’s leading boutique consultancy, solutions provider and software firm for risk management and trading. Kase’s accomplishments have included advising large and small energy consumers, producers and marketers on trading and hedging strategies. In addition, she has developed computer models for credit, price and basis risk estimation, as well as hedging and scenario models with long-term, successful track records.
